NNRA AND HOFA PALLY TO ENSURE PROPER USE OF BAGGAGE/ SECURITY SCANNERS, May 2019.


The Hotel Owners Forum Association (HOFA) Abuja branch has been directed to licence and register the use of their Baggage/Security Scanners in accordance with the government approved laws and regulations. The call was made during a meeting with executive members of the association at the NNRA Headquarters in Abuja.

The Acting Director General Dr. Yau Idris Usman, said it had become expedient to ensure all Baggage/Security Scanners be registered to guarantee maximum safety and to effectively protect the public from the harmful effects of radiation emitting from such equipment. It is to this end, the Authority has included hotels in its updated list of organisations under regulatory control and supervision in line with the Authority’s core mandate of protecting lives and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. He solicited for their maximum cooperation during routine inspections at their respective hotels.

During the meeting, the President of HOFA, Chief C. Ezeudeh thanked the Acting. DG/CEO and his management for the warm welcome and said that the meeting has helped them to be better informed about the NNRA’s activities and mandates. He asked for further clarification on the Authority’s licencing and registration processes.

In closing, it was agreed that NNRA staff will make presentations at the HOFA general meeting scheduled to hold on the 13th June, 2019 to inform, educate and train all the hotel representatives about NNRA’s regulatory processes and the proper use of security scanners.
