NATIONAL TRAINING COURSE (NTC), 2019.


“Basic Training course on nuclear Safety Radiation Protection, Authorization and   Inspection of Radiation sources of NNRA Regulators”.

 A four week training programme is currently underway in Abuja for the NNRA Regulators.

The objectives of the training, is aimed at enhancing the capacity and efficiency of the NNRA inspectors and to build competence while discharging their duties on the Job.

Declaring open the training programme the Ag. DG/CEO Dr. Yau-Usman Idris, said the training is strategically and structurally put together according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) standards and to boost the capacity and performance of the NNRA inspectors.

The Ag. DG/CEO said that the participants are expected to be qualified as competent (Radiation Safety Officers) at the end of the training programme hence the need to take it seriously.

He urged the participants to take full advantage of the experienced resource persons that would be available during the training. He also advised them to comply fully with the rules of the training as this would form part of the annual appraisal.

Some of the management staff of the Authority also graced the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, two (2) International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Fellows from the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of Ghana (NRAG) have arrived at the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) to under study the NNRA regulatory structure in the area of “Government and Regulatory infrastructure for Radiation safety” (well-logging) under the Technical co-operation project (RAF9058-EWT1800107-001) and (EVT1800107-002).

The fellows; Professor Faanu-Augustine and Mr. Adjirackor Narh-Korli Theophilus will be in Nigeria for the period of four weeks during which they are expected to cover the training modules as designed by the IAEA and NNRA.
