This implies the regulation of all devices and activities that emit ionizing radiation in its entire ramification in the country. The DG NESREA while responding said the primary responsibility of NESREA is to protect the environment from hazards resulting from activities of man and to develop a good environmental technology for sustainable growth of the country’s economy.

Speaking further, he said that the objective of their visit is to build a good working relationship with the Authority and to cooperate in carrying out the common mandate of both Agencies which is to protect the environment from harmful substances. He remarked also that both Agencies can cooperate in human capacity building, whereby trainings in specialized areas can be jointly organized to educate and enlighten staff and also strive to acquire infrastructures in all 36 states of the federation to ensure effective regulatory control is put in place.

Consequently, both agencies agreed to constitute a working committee that will put in place a comprehensive work document (MOU), in order to foster cooperation and smooth working relationship for the overall benefit of the people and Nigeria at large.
